Comments from owners Wayne and Steff of RNR Charters… “The Coppercoat is great on the hull, We are very happy with the performance of the coppercoat to date though and recommend it to others to use. It seems to suit our situation on a swing mooring in the Mangawhai Estuary. The green (verdigris) colour it has gone looks great too” July 2009 after 13 months in the water.

Right 1-7: On haul out June 2010 after 24 months in the water local charter operator at Mangawai Wayne Radford was impressed with Coppercoats performance... "After two years, the hull only need a water blast then was ready for immediate return back into the water and back to her swing mooring. We believe we are getting 1-2 knts more speed from her as well with the hard nature of Coppercoat". June 2010.

Left top: Coppercoat applied by her owner in February 2009 Pier 21.

Left Bottom: Removed old antifoul and primer back to the gel coat, this was abraded with 180 grit sandpaper, then 5 coats of Coppercoat rolled directly onto this surface

Right (1,2,3,4): Finished hull, the owner has reported ‘Once we had finished the process we defiantly noticed the boat glided through the water effortlessly we are sure that it went faster - it was like it was being pushed along and 'slipped' through the water’.

Applied by her owners July 2008.

Comments from the owner…” The net result of all the work was that when motoring at full throttle in calm water our speed increased from six knots to about eight and a half.  It's harder to quantify the speed difference when sailing but Gary recorded a speed of just under fourteen knots in the early summer. With the hull seems a lot less sticky when sailing in six to nine knots of breeze”

Left top: Soda blasting to remove old antifoul, non abrasive method back to the hull.

Left Middle: Primer Coat

Left Bottom: Abrading the primer to get a good key, 200 grit paper.

Right top: First Coat applied, note you should still be able to see the hull underneath (key is to apply thin coats and build up the layers). Due to the heavy nature of copper, if applied to thick the copper will sag and cause unsightly runs.

Right Second: Pressure Pot spray unit is a must, second coat being applied.

Right Third: Finished Hull
